在英國廣播公司(BBC)播出的《一周使你更聰明》電視節目中,製作組對十五名志願者進行了「大腦鍛煉」的測試。按照測試的規定動作,一周後,被測試者的智商最少提高了一成,最多提高了四成。製片人菲力浦‧莫羅說:「節目播出後,一些人給我們打來電話說,大腦鍛煉徹底改變了他們的生活。有人甚至說,五年來他第一次晚上睡得這麼香。」

星期一:正餐吃海魚;騎自行車、步行或乘公車上班。
星期二:從字典裏挑出陌生的字詞,在與別人交談時使用。
星期三:練瑜伽、普拉提或參加一堂冥想課;跟不認識的人聊天。
星期四:上班時走不同的路線;做做「腦筋急轉彎」或其他猜謎遊戲。
星期五:不喝咖啡或酒;背誦購物清單。

星期日:做縱橫字謎遊戲;到戶外快走散步。
